CM Vijay chairs a Cabinet meeting to approve proposals for the 2026-27 Tamil Nadu Budget, expected to be presented in the first week of August.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay chaired a Cabinet meeting on Thursday to approve proposals for the 2026-27 Tamil Nadu Budget, which is expected to be presented in the first week of August. Ministers discussed key policy decisions and departmental proposals ahead of the Budget being finalised.
The Cabinet meeting brought together ministers to review proposals from their respective departments before they are consolidated into the state's annual Budget. This follows the month-long, department-wise performance review CM Vijay launched earlier in July, with the findings from that exercise expected to feed directly into Budget priorities.
The 2026-27 Budget is expected to be presented during the first week of August, marking the new government's first full Budget Session since taking office in May. It is likely to be closely watched for how several TVK manifesto commitments — including pending welfare schemes still in progress — are addressed with dedicated funding.
