CM Vijay appeals to the people of Tamil Nadu to complete self-enumeration for India's first fully digital Census, saying the information residents provide forms the foundation for all welfare schemes.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu on Friday to participate in Census 2026 through self-enumeration, India's first fully digital census exercise. He said the information residents provide forms the foundation for all government schemes, underlining the importance of accurate, up-to-date data for welfare and development planning.
Residents can complete the process at the Census Self-Enumeration website by selecting Tamil Nadu as their state, entering a captcha, and verifying their mobile number via OTP. The facility is available in 16 languages. After entering district, village or town, and PIN code details, the applicant's house location is confirmed using Google Maps, followed by 33 questions covering housing conditions, drinking water, sanitation, electricity and internet access. Explanations are available for each question before submission.
CM Vijay's appeal came alongside similar calls from other Tamil Nadu political leaders for residents to complete the self-enumeration process ahead of the deadline. Accurate census data is expected to play a significant role in shaping welfare scheme eligibility and development planning in the years ahead.
