Police in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts have announced traffic diversions and tight security for Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s visit on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, when he travels to Dharapuram to campaign in the by-election. The Chief Minister will fly from Chennai to Coimbatore and drive from the airport to Dharapuram via Avinashi Road and Trichy Road.

The district administration has banned drones around Coimbatore airport and along the Chief Minister’s route, barricades have been put up at the airport, and three-tier security has been arranged across the district (The Covai Mail, Tamil Oneindia).
About 3,000 police personnel have been deployed in Dharapuram, according to ETV Bharat. The diversions there apply only to lorries and other heavy vehicles; government and private buses, cars and two-wheelers will run as usual. Vehicles may be briefly held at some points while the Chief Minister’s campaign vehicle passes.

The public meeting, for TVK candidate P. Sathyabama, is at Maruti Nagar on the Dharapuram–Udumalpet Road. Police permission has been given for about 5,000 people, and the Chief Minister is also expected to greet voters in a road show (IPD Tamil, TV9 Tamil). It is his first visit to Dharapuram as Chief Minister. Police have asked motorists and the public to cooperate with the arrangements.
