Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday, July 2, 2026 launched a comprehensive month-long department-wise performance review of all Tamil Nadu government departments โ the most systematic governance accountability exercise undertaken since the TVK government took oath on May 10, 2026.
The review is designed to assess how each department is performing against its targets, identify bottlenecks slowing welfare delivery, and accelerate the implementation of flagship projects and schemes announced in the government's first 52 days.
This review builds directly on the momentum of the Collectors Conference (June 29โ30) where CM Vijay set firm accountability standards for district administration. Now, the same accountability framework is being extended upward โ to every department Secretary and Minister responsible for state-level delivery.
The month-long timeline ensures that every department gets dedicated attention rather than a rushed cursory check โ and that follow-up actions and course corrections can be implemented within the same review cycle before August.
Coming just ahead of the Budget Session expected in July 2026, this review also ensures the government enters the Assembly fully briefed on what has been delivered, what is in progress, and what needs additional resources or policy push.
