CM Vijay makes his first official visit to his own Perambur constituency since becoming Chief Minister and MLA, inaugurating a new digitally-equipped MLA office, launching a ration card distribution programme, and reviewing ₹1,000 crore in local infrastructure.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay made his first official visit to Perambur on Tuesday, the constituency he represents as MLA, more than two months after taking office as Chief Minister. The visit combined a formal inauguration, two new welfare programme launches, and an on-ground walk through the constituency to meet residents directly.

CM Vijay inaugurated the newly renovated Perambur MLA Constituency Office at Sharma Nagar, Vyasarpadi. The modernised office includes a dedicated space for the Chief Minister to use during future constituency visits, a technology-enabled public grievance management system, CCTV surveillance, and a 10-member team assigned specifically to receive and process petitions from residents. An integrated e-Sevai Centre has also been added on-site, allowing residents to access government services directly from the constituency office rather than travelling elsewhere.
CM Vijay formally launched the Tamil Nadu government's new ration card distribution programme from Perambur, personally handing over the first batch of cards to eligible beneficiaries — marking the statewide rollout of the initiative. Beneficiaries also received essential commodities on the spot, while eligible families were issued land ownership pattas as part of the same programme.
Alongside this, he launched a mobile application and public grievance platform for Perambur residents, allowing complaints to be submitted digitally and tracked in real time. The app covers issues relating to drinking water supply, roads, street lighting, sanitation, electricity, and government welfare schemes — extending the same digital-first approach as the new constituency office.
Following the inaugural events, CM Vijay walked through several streets in Perambur, interacting directly with residents, shopkeepers, women, senior citizens, local youth and party workers, and receiving petitions in person. He listened to civic concerns raised on the ground and assured residents that officials would take prompt action to resolve local issues.
CM Vijay reviewed infrastructure and welfare projects worth nearly ₹1,000 crore across the constituency. Officials briefed him on progress across road development, stormwater drainage, drinking water supply, parks and public spaces, transport infrastructure, and urban civic improvements. He instructed officials to complete all ongoing works within their stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards.
As part of the same review, CM Vijay inspected the upgraded MTC bus depot in Perambur and assessed commuter amenities on the ground. He also visited the area's electric vehicle charging infrastructure and discussed further improvements to Chennai's public transport network.
The Perambur visit reflected the government's emphasis on taking administration closer to the people through technology-driven governance, improved public service delivery, and direct interaction with citizens. As his first official constituency visit since becoming Chief Minister, the day's programme underscored CM Vijay's stated commitment to strengthening local governance while ensuring welfare schemes reach beneficiaries efficiently.
