Vijay flew from Chennai to Vijayawada airport at Gannavaram, where Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and senior officials received him. Dressed in traditional attire, Vijay greeted devotees waiting in the queue lines with folded hands. Temple priests and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath gave him a traditional welcome and took him to the main shrine, where he had darshan of the goddess and special prayers were performed (hmtv).
The Kanaka Durga temple stands on Indrakeeladri hill overlooking the Krishna river and is one of Andhra Pradesh’s most visited shrines. During the ten days of Dasara, the goddess is decorated in a different form each day, and lakhs of devotees climb the hill.
From the temple, Vijay drove to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Undavalli for talks on Krishna water for Chennai and river linking, and later joined the Vijayawada Utsav celebrations at Punnami Ghat. Andhra Pradesh MPs had invited him to the Dasara celebrations when they met him in Chennai on October 6.
