💕 CM Vijay to Visit Karur July 10–11 — Meet Victims' Families, Launch Welfare Projects

⏱ 2 min read

CM Vijay's two-day Karur visit will include meeting victims' families, handing over job appointment orders, and inaugurating welfare and development projects — marking the start of a district-wide outreach tour.

📅 Visit scheduled July 10–11, 2026 · Karur

Karur is gearing up for Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's two-day visit on July 10 and 11 — his first to the district since the stampede tragedy at a TVK rally in September 2025. He is expected to meet the families of the 41 victims, hand over government job appointment orders to eligible family members, inaugurate several welfare initiatives and development projects, and address a public gathering. The visit is expected to mark the beginning of a wider district-by-district outreach programme across Tamil Nadu, thanking people for their support in the Assembly elections and reviewing implementation of government schemes.

Why This Is His First Visit

In the immediate aftermath of the September 2025 tragedy, CM Vijay was unable to travel to Karur due to security concerns and restrictions imposed by police at the time. He instead addressed the bereaved families through a video conference, expressing his condolences and assuring them of continued support, with a commitment that additional assistance would be extended once their long-term needs were assessed — a commitment this visit now fulfils in person.

What to Expect on the Visit

Officials have confirmed the two-day visit will include a personal meeting with the stampede victims' families, the handover of government job appointment orders to eligible family members, the inauguration of welfare initiatives and development projects, and a public gathering address in the district. Security arrangements and administrative preparations are currently underway ahead of the visit.

Continued Focus on Affected Families

The visit reflects the government's continued focus on supporting the affected families while monitoring the progress of the ongoing investigation into the incident. The Chief Minister's visit comes even as the Supreme Court recently declined to entertain a plea seeking restrictions on his public statements and travel related to the case — clearing the way for the visit to proceed as scheduled.
