A Family Loss

Amal Rajasekaran was the wife of Rajasekaran, the elder brother of Vijay’s father, director S.A. Chandrasekhar — Vijay’s periyamma in the family. She died of age-related illness at the care home in Neelankarai where she lived with her husband and received regular medical care.

On hearing the news, the Chief Minister set aside his schedule and went to pay homage. His parents, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar, also paid their respects and consoled the family. Members of the family recall that she affectionately called the young Vijay “Jo Jo”.
