CM Vijay watched Jana Nayagan with his parents and senior officials at Tagore Film Centre a day before its release, a moment that placed him in rare company among sitting Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers.
Ahead of Jana Nayagan's worldwide theatrical release, CM Vijay watched his final film as an actor with his parents at the Tagore Film Centre in Adyar, Chennai, on Wednesday evening. The special screening was also attended by senior government officials, including Chief Secretary Sai Kumar, Private Secretary Senthil Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Siddiq, and the film's producer, Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions.
With Jana Nayagan's release, Vijay becomes only the second Tamil Nadu Chief Minister — after the legendary M. G. Ramachandran — to have a film released while serving in office, a distinction being noted widely across the state's political and film circles.
On release day itself, several ministers and senior TVK leaders attended first-day-first-show screenings of Jana Nayagan across the state alongside the public. A widely shared clip showed Minister Mohammed Farvas visibly emotional while watching the film in Pudukkottai. The ruling party had earlier directed its ministers and district-level functionaries to help coordinate the celebrations while keeping them orderly.
Jana Nayagan, which released across nearly 1,000 screens in Tamil Nadu and roughly 2,500 nationwide, carries an 'A' certificate from the CBFC. Party leaders have described the release as a historic milestone marking Vijay's transition from cinema superstar to Chief Minister.
