The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) carried out searches at 25 locations across Tamil Nadu, including in Tiruchirappalli and Chennai, linked to former Municipal Administration and Water Supply Minister and DMK leader K.N. Nehru, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
On October 26, the High Court dismissed Nehru’s petition seeking a review of the order on the FIR. A day before the searches, he filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging that ruling.
DMK president M.K. Stalin called the searches political vendetta. Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar said no one is being singled out and that all cases are being investigated without political interference, on the basis of complaints and court orders.
These are allegations under investigation. A search is not a finding of guilt; the evidence will be tested in court and the former minister is entitled to every legal remedy.
