CM Vijay's son Jason Sanjay, in a new interview ahead of his directorial debut Sigma, says his father always encouraged him to build his own identity rather than lean on the family name.
Jason Sanjay, son of CM Vijay, has spoken about his father's advice, his upcoming directorial debut and the sense of responsibility that came with his father's rise to Chief Minister, in interviews given around the promotion of his new film Sigma.
Speaking about his father becoming Chief Minister, Jason described it as a defining moment for the entire family. "My father becoming the Chief Minister is a historic revolution. After he became CM, the responsibility on me, my sister, and our entire family has increased. We have to protect his legacy," he said, adding that the milestone has made him more conscious of how he carries himself publicly.
Jason, who is stepping into the industry as a director rather than an actor with Sigma, said his father never pushed him toward a particular path, instead encouraging him to gain experience and take initiative on his own terms — with support always available if he asked for it. He also spoke warmly about his bond with his younger sister Divya Saasha, saying their relationship has grown closer since both left home for their studies, with the two staying in touch through daily video calls; she was reportedly the first person to hear the story of Sigma and offers him honest feedback on his work.
On the public attention that comes with the family name, Jason said he takes note of both encouraging and critical feedback, acknowledging that people form different opinions without necessarily knowing him personally — but added he remains grateful for the support the family continues to receive.
