Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a special incentive of ₹709.50 per tonne for sugarcane farmers at the Secretariat on 4 November 2026, handing orders to three farmers as a start. About 85,000 farmers will receive ₹603.33 crore in all.
The CM first announced the incentive in the Assembly under Rule 110 on 10 August 2026. Two days earlier, his government had ordered Deepavali bonus for workers in cooperative and public-sector sugar mills; now the farmers who grow the cane get their share too.
