V. Siva, TVK's Chennai North district secretary who stepped aside from the Perambur constituency to make way for CM Vijay, is appointed Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board.
The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday appointed V. Siva, Chennai North district secretary of TVK, as Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. Siva received congratulations from CM Vijay after showing him the government order confirming the appointment.
The responsibility has been entrusted to Siva following the resignation of DMK functionary Poochi Murugan from the post. The Tamil Nadu Housing Board, established in 1961, is a statutory body responsible for constructing and allotting affordable housing across the state, having provided housing stock to nearly 4.40 lakh families over its six decades of operation.
The appointment carries particular significance given Siva's own political history: he had previously stepped aside from contesting the Perambur constituency to clear the way for CM Vijay to run there — the seat Vijay went on to win and represent as MLA. His elevation to head the Housing Board is being seen within TVK circles as recognition of that gesture.
