Telugu stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna met Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Chennai on Monday, October 12, 2026. The two were in the city to promote the Tamil version of their film Ranabaali, and both shared photographs and warm notes about the meeting (IANS, TV9 Tamil).
Deverakonda posted pictures of the three of them in conversation, and one of him hugging the Chief Minister. “Had the most beautiful time with the dearest Thalapathy Vijay Sir,” he wrote, adding that the Chief Minister welcomed them warmly after a long day and shared his thoughts on life, work and the world (IANS).
Rashmika, who acted with Vijay in Varisu (2023), wrote: “After such a long time went to meet sir. From fangirling him for longer than I can remember to having the opportunity to work with sir, to today admiring him for the Chief Minister he is! His journey is nothing short of incredible” (TV9 Tamil, IANS).
Ranabaali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, releases on October 15 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Deverakonda plays the title role and Rashmika plays Jayamma (TV9 Tamil).
The meeting is the latest sign of the goodwill Vijay continues to enjoy across the film industry five months into his tenure as Chief Minister.
