Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson says the government will table an audit report on alleged corruption during the previous DMK regime in the upcoming Budget session, naming a former minister.
Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson has said the government is preparing an "audit report on corruption" concerning the previous DMK administration, and that it will be tabled in the upcoming Budget session beginning August 5. Wilson said the report would detail irregularities in party fund collection during DMK rule, and would name a former minister.
Wilson made the announcement while addressing his first public event in the Harbour Assembly constituency, in what appeared to be a veiled reference to DMK leader P. K. Sekar Babu, who currently represents the constituency. Wilson said the former minister was "feigning ignorance" about party funds collected during the DMK's time in power.
At the same event — held to distribute commendation certificates to Class 10 and 12 students — Wilson also addressed NEET, predicting that a political shift in national politics by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, similar to TVK's 2026 Assembly win in Tamil Nadu, would ultimately lead to the exam's abolition nationwide. He said TVK's leadership was "actively working on a plan" toward a permanent resolution of the issue.
The audit report follows the government's earlier White Paper on Tamil Nadu's finances, released by Wilson on June 16, which said the state's outstanding liabilities had nearly doubled from ₹5.13 lakh crore in 2021 to around ₹10 lakh crore by March 2026, attributing part of the shortfall to revenue leakages in sectors including TASMAC, mining and land registration. Former Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan had disputed that report's methodology, arguing it examined a narrower five-year window compared to his own 15-year assessment in 2021.
