On the International Day of the Girl Child, CM Vijay called girls “the most beautiful poems on earth” and asked everyone to pledge an equal society free from discrimination.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay greeted every girl in Tamil Nadu on the International Day of the Girl Child, observed on October 11. In a post on X on Sunday morning, he called girls “the most beautiful poems on this earth” and asked people to pledge to build an equal society free from discrimination (Nakkheeran, ETV Bharat Tamil).
On this day that UNICEF marks as the International Day of the Girl Child, celebrating girls and upholding their rights, my warm wishes to every girl. Girls are the most beautiful poems on this earth. Their baby laughter brings joy to the family; their playfulness is the great beauty of nature. When a girl is born, love, compassion and immeasurable strength are born with her. Ensuring that girls have a healthy life, quality education, a safe environment, equal rights and complete freedom is our duty and our responsibility. Let us all pledge to give wings to girls' dreams, support their progress and build an equal society free from discrimination.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the day in 2011, and it has been observed every year on 11 October since 2012. This year's focus is on ending child marriage and investing in girls' rights (ETV Bharat Tamil).
The message follows a series of steps by the TVK government for girls and women:
