School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity Minister Rajmohan handed over government subsidy cheques to 224 film producers on 30 October 2026, at a function held by the Information and Public Relations Department at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai.
Tamil Nadu gives a subsidy to producers of Tamil films that meet the government’s criteria, to encourage quality, low-budget and meaningful cinema. The subsidy helps smaller producers recover part of their costs and keep making films in Tamil. Handing over cheques to 224 producers at one function clears a large number of pending applications together.
Rajmohan also holds the Film Technology and Cinematograph Act portfolio in CM Vijay’s Cabinet. Earlier this year he paid floral tributes on behalf of the government at Sivaji Ganesan’s memorial, when the government announced that CM Vijay will lead the actor’s birth centenary celebrations in 2028.
The amount given to each producer has not been announced. We will update this story when the details are released.
