✨ The Spark That Started This
On 2 February 2024, when Thalapathy Vijay formally announced the founding of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), something extraordinary began. A cinema superstar — beloved by tens of millions — walked away from the biggest entertainment career in Tamil history to serve the people who had cheered for him all his life.
We are a group of long-time fans. Not political operatives. Not official TVK members. Just ordinary Tamil people — engineers, teachers, students, homemakers — who had watched Vijay for decades and believed something different was happening. This was not another celebrity vanity project. This felt real.
As the months passed — from TVK's founding to Vikravandi's 800,000-person conference, to the Madurai manifesto launch, to the extraordinary election campaign and finally to Vijay being sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 10 May 2026 — we felt a growing urge to document every step of this journey. Not just for us. For Tamil Nadu's history.

VettriThalapathy.com was built with one goal: to be the most complete, accurate and accessible record of Vijay's political journey — from the moment TVK was founded to his years in office and beyond.
Capture every milestone — the conferences, resolutions, campaign trail, election results, government formation and governance decisions — in one place, for all time.
Much of TVK's story unfolded in Tamil. We wanted Tamil Nadu's diaspora, English-speaking youth and national media to access this history in clear, readable English.
The manifesto tracker, election results and governance decisions are here for everyone to see. Vijay made specific promises. This site tracks whether they are kept.
Vijay's journey — from a child actor in 1984 to CM in 2026 — is a story about persistence, sacrifice and service. We want that story told faithfully, for generations.

This site carries no advertisements, no sponsored content, no paid posts and no affiliate links. It was built purely from our own time and resources as a labour of love. No one paid us to say anything.
We track every promise Vijay made — and whether it was delivered. The manifesto tracker is here not to praise, but to hold the government accountable to the people it promised to serve.
Free. No login. No paywall. No subscription. Tamil Nadu's story belongs to Tamil people — and to anyone who wants to understand what happened here. Full stop.

📖 Why This Journey Matters
In 2026, Tamil Nadu witnessed something genuinely unprecedented in Indian democratic history. These are the reasons we believe this story deserves to be told carefully and completely:
TVK was founded in February 2024. By May 2026 — just 27 months later — it had formed a majority government. No party in Indian democratic history had won a state assembly majority in its very first electoral contest. This is not a footnote. It is a chapter in the history of Indian democracy.
From 1967 to 2026, Tamil Nadu was governed exclusively by DMK or AIADMK — alternating for 59 years. A generation of Tamil people had never seen any other government. TVK didn't just win an election. It broke a political duopoly older than most living Tamils.
Thalapathy Vijay was the highest-paid Tamil film star in history. He had nothing material to gain from entering politics. He gave up his film career — his livelihood, his comfort zone, the thing he was best known for — to serve people. That sacrifice should be documented and remembered.
Tamil Nadu's 2026 election result was driven by ordinary voters — women tired of TASMAC, youth angry about NEET, farmers struggling without MSP, workers without jobs. No single dominant caste. No massive cash distribution. No 50-year-old party machine. Just people choosing change. That matters enormously.
Mainstream media covered fragments of this story. Social media captured moments. But no one had assembled the complete picture in one place — the full biography, the 26 resolutions, the campaign trail, the government formation drama, the 108 MLAs. We decided to do it ourselves.
