Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday, June 29 reviewed law and order, women's safety, anti-drug measures and the implementation of government schemes during the first session of his administration's landmark Collectors Conference, held at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai in the Chennai Secretariat.
This marked the first major administrative conference of the TVK government since assuming office on May 10, 2026 โ bringing together DGP Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, senior secretaries, all 38 District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Range DIGs, IGs and senior Forest Department officials.
The Chief Minister urged officials to strengthen women's safety across the state, specifically reviewing measures to prevent crimes such as chain-snatching and discussing faster action against offenders. He also called for greater police accountability and transparency, improved intelligence gathering, faster execution of pending arrest warrants, and close monitoring of habitual offenders.
On the Drug-Free Tamil Nadu initiative, officials reviewed ongoing awareness campaigns against narcotics in educational institutions, enforcement actions against illicit liquor production and sales, and steps being taken to curb the sale of banned tobacco products.
A significant portion of Day 1 focused on the functioning of the Singappen Special Task Force โ the TVK government's dedicated women's safety wing โ along with the progress of pending POCSO Act cases and the handling of cybercrimes targeting women and children across the state.
The conference resumes Tuesday, June 30 at 9:30 AM with two further sessions โ one exclusively for District Collectors reviewing welfare scheme delivery, and another joint session with Forest Department officials on environmental management. Read Day 2 coverage โ
